Just a few tips and trick to keep in mind during the holiday party circuit… As much as parties bring holiday cheer they are often responsible for unwanted pounds. Here are a few easy things you can do to manage your waistline over the next couple weeks.
- Go Prepared – Have a small snack at home before you head out to the party. If you go hungry, you will be more likely to overindulge. Aim for something around 150-200 calories and that has protein and fiber. An apple with a tablespoon of almond butter or a olives and a small handful of nuts will do the trick.
- Beware of Yuletide Cocktails – A cocktail sounds like a great idea but they are often loaded with sugar and empty calories. Sticking with white wine, light beer or vodka with soda water and a lime will be better choices. And if you must have that cocktail, skip the straw and sip slowly.
- 3-Napkin Rule – Consider allowing yourself up to 3 cocktail napkins of food at the party and no more. Three napkins full can be equivalent to a plate of food. Listen to your needs and sip water between napkin-fulls.
